Islamabad, April 21, 2026: Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani on Tuesday lauded the successful test of the Pakistan Navy’s indigenously developed anti-ship air-launched cruise missile system, Taimur, terming it a landmark achievement in strengthening the country’s defence capability.

In a statement, Gilani expressed profound satisfaction over the development, describing it as a reflection of Pakistan’s growing technological prowess and its ability to meet national defence requirements through indigenous innovation.

He said the successful test sends a clear message that Pakistan’s naval defence architecture remains resilient, effective, and fully prepared to counter emerging threats.

The Senate chairman further noted that the country’s defence capabilities—driven by innovation, institutional professionalism, and strategic foresight—have reached a level of operational readiness that ensures a swift and effective response to any challenge to national security.

Calling the achievement a significant milestone, Gilani said it reinforces Pakistan’s strong and credible defence framework.

He extended congratulations to the nation on the accomplishment, describing it as a source of collective pride and confidence. He also commended the officers, engineers, scientists, and experts of the Pakistan Navy for their dedication, technical excellence, and commitment.

Gilani reiterated that the people of Pakistan stand united in support of their armed forces, whose efforts continue to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
