Islamabad, April 23, 2026: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Thursday stressed that multilateral cooperation, effective diplomacy, and purposeful dialogue are essential for achieving sustainable peace, urging the global community to prioritise engagement over confrontation.

In his message on the occasion of the International Day for Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, the speaker said the day serves as a reminder that lasting peace can only be secured through mutual trust, meaningful negotiations, and respect for international law.

Highlighting current global and regional challenges, he noted that rising tensions, climate change, economic instability, and complex security threats have made a strong multilateral system more critical than ever. He emphasised that nations must promote tolerance, dialogue, and collective wisdom instead of polarization.

The speaker reiterated that Pakistan has consistently placed peace, stability, and international cooperation at the centre of its foreign policy, playing a responsible role in regional and global forums through diplomacy and reconciliation.

Referring to recent tensions in the Middle East, Sadiq praised the leadership and diplomatic efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir. He said Pakistan played a constructive role in de-escalating tensions and facilitating dialogue between concerned parties, helping avert a potential large-scale conflict and reducing the risk of a wider global crisis.

Emphasising peaceful conflict resolution, the speaker said the use of force only exacerbates problems, whereas dialogue and adherence to international law pave the way for lasting peace.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation and promoting global harmony, adding that the peaceful resolution of longstanding disputes such as Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine remains vital for regional stability. He called on the international community to ensure just solutions in line with United Nations resolutions and principles of human rights and justice.

Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, in his separate message, said diplomacy, dialogue, and mutual respect are the foundation of global stability. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued commitment to promoting peace, international cooperation, and tolerance, urging the global community to prioritise negotiations and justice over the use of force.
