Rawalpindi, April 25, 2026: The SUPARCO has announced the successful launch of Pakistan’s indigenous Electro-Optical Satellite (EO-3) from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, describing it as a historic milestone in the country’s space programme.
According to a statement issued by ISPR, the EO-3 satellite launch represents a significant step forward in Pakistan’s pursuit of self-reliance and technological advancement in the space sector.
The satellite is expected to provide high-resolution imaging data to support a wide range of national priorities, including urban planning, disaster management, food security, and environmental protection. Officials said the initiative will help strengthen Pakistan’s capacity to respond to climate challenges and improve resource management.
The statement further noted that EO-3 will form the foundation of an integrated Earth Observation System, aimed at enhancing decision-making across multiple sectors and contributing to sustainable socio-economic development.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated scientists and engineers of SUPARCO on the achievement, praising their professionalism and dedication.
He also acknowledged the continued support of China, describing it as Pakistan’s “all-weather friend” and a key partner in advancing cooperation in the space domain.
