Mumbai, April 25, 2026: Cyber police in India’s Maharashtra state have arrested a suspect accused of harassing the 13-year-old daughter of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar during an online video game, officials confirmed on Saturday.
According to authorities, the incident occurred in October 2025 when the victim, Nitara, was playing an online game and was contacted by an unidentified individual who allegedly sent inappropriate messages and later demanded explicit images.
The case came to light after the actor filed a formal complaint, following his daughter’s disclosure of the incident to her parents. Acting on the complaint, the Maharashtra Cyber Department launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the suspect.
Additional Director General of Police Yashasvi Yadav confirmed the arrest, stating that the accused was taken into custody after detailed technical analysis and cyber tracking operations.
Police said the victim’s prompt reporting to her family played a crucial role in enabling swift law enforcement action.
Speaking at a cyber awareness session, ADG Yadav praised the child’s awareness and courage, noting that immediate reporting helped investigators resolve the case efficiently.
In earlier public remarks, Akshay Kumar had highlighted the growing risks children face in online gaming environments, warning that interactions with strangers can escalate into serious cybercrime incidents.
He had also urged parents to closely monitor their children’s online activity, educate them about digital safety, and encourage open communication so that suspicious behaviour can be reported without hesitation.
The actor previously appealed to Maharashtra’s Chief Minister to introduce cybercrime awareness programmes in schools to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
