Guangzhou, May 1, 2026: Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and Guangzhou International Cooperation Center (GICC) have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing economic cooperation and expanding business ties between Pakistan and China.
The agreement was signed in Guangzhou by ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood during his official visit to China.
The ICCI delegation, accompanied by Executive Member and head of the Foreign Delegations Committee Imran Minhas, is engaging with Chinese stakeholders to explore new opportunities in trade, investment and industrial cooperation.
According to ICCI, the MoU establishes a structured framework for institutional collaboration that will enable businesses from both countries to pursue joint ventures, expand market access and benefit from a one-window facilitation mechanism.
Under the initiative, Islamabad is being promoted as a strategic destination for foreign investment through ICCI’s coordinated support platform designed to facilitate ease of doing business.
During the visit, the ICCI delegation also held high-level business-to-business (B2B) meetings with leading Chinese firms operating in construction, infrastructure development and real estate — sectors considered vital for Pakistan’s economic growth.
The delegation further engaged with companies specialising in artificial intelligence, smart technologies and global supply chain management, reflecting growing interest in technology-driven partnerships between the two countries.
In a forward-looking initiative, ICCI has invited leading Chinese companies to Islamabad for structured B2B engagements with carefully screened Pakistani counterparts to ensure productive and result-oriented business interactions.
Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Tahir Mehmood said the initiative aims to transform diplomatic goodwill between Pakistan and China into concrete economic outcomes through increased investment, technology transfer and long-term industrial collaboration.
“In the near future, structured B2B engagements will be organised at ICCI to connect credible businesses from both sides and promote sustainable economic partnerships,” he said.
