Islamabad, May 6, 2026: Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday underscored the importance of transparency and institutional coordination during a meeting with Chief Information Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and a member of the Pakistan Information Commission at Parliament House.
Welcoming the delegation, Gilani described the interaction as vital for strengthening cooperation among key institutions. He noted that the completion of three years since the establishment of the Pakistan Information Commission marks a significant milestone, reflecting the body’s growing institutional capacity, improved service delivery, and rising public awareness about the right of access to information.
Highlighting transparency as a cornerstone of good governance, the Senate chairman said it plays a critical role in fostering public trust, strengthening institutions, and enabling informed decision-making. He appreciated the Commission’s efforts in implementing access-to-information laws, addressing public grievances, and promoting proactive disclosure by government bodies.
Gilani also emphasized the need to maintain institutional balance and adhere to constitutional and legal frameworks while advancing transparency objectives.
Expressing confidence in the Commission’s future role, he said enhanced coordination, clearer procedures, and effective implementation mechanisms would further strengthen the transparency regime and improve governance standards.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Chief Information Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui presented the Commission’s bi-annual report to the chairman and conveyed his best wishes.
