Rawalpindi, June 2, 2026: Pakistan’s security forces have killed 17 militants during a series of intelligence-based operations conducted in multiple districts of Balochistan following the train incident reported on May 24, according to the military’s media wing.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces carried out coordinated operations in Mastung, Nushki, Zehri, Khuzdar and Kech districts.
During the operations, troops engaged several militant hideouts and locations. Following what ISPR described as intense exchanges of fire, 17 militants affiliated with what the military termed “Fitna-al-Hindustan” were killed.
The military said the operations dealt a significant blow to militant networks operating in the region.
According to the statement, security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition, explosives and a large cache of prepared improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from the slain militants.
ISPR stated that the militants were allegedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area.
The military said clearance and sanitisation operations are continuing to eliminate any remaining militants and dismantle terrorist infrastructure in the affected districts.
It added that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue counterterrorism operations under the framework of Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, with the objective of eliminating militancy and enhancing national security.
The latest operations come amid ongoing efforts by Pakistani authorities to counter militant violence in Balochistan and other parts of the country.
