Lahore, June 2, 2026: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday paid heartfelt tribute to legendary superfan Chaudhry Abdul Jalil, widely known as “Chacha Cricket,” as he prepares to retire following the final One-Day International against Australia at Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.
The Pakistan Cricket Board shared a commemorative banner featuring Chacha Cricket alongside a collage of memorable photographs, expressing gratitude with the message “Thank you, Chacha Cricket” in recognition of his decades-long devotion to Pakistan cricket.
In its message, the PCB described him as “more than a fan” and “a symbol of unwavering support for Pakistan cricket,” acknowledging his lifelong passion, loyalty and emotional connection with the national team.
Chaudhry Abdul Jalil, born on October 8, 1949, in Sialkot, has been a visible and iconic presence at Pakistan matches for nearly 40 years. He is instantly recognizable in stadium stands for his traditional green attire, white beard, and signature cap decorated with a crescent and star.
His journey as a superfan began in the 1980s in Sharjah, when Pakistan frequently played its “home” series there. He later gained official recognition from the PCB in 1996, cementing his status as a symbolic figure in Pakistan cricket culture.
Over the years, Chacha Cricket has become one of the most recognizable supporters in world cricket, often energizing crowds and standing by the national team through both victories and defeats.
Known for his extraordinary dedication, Chacha Cricket reportedly left a well-paying job in the United Arab Emirates and even sold personal belongings to fund his travels around the world in support of Pakistan cricket.
His unwavering commitment has made him a symbol of passion, resilience and loyalty in the country’s sporting landscape, inspiring generations of cricket fans.
The PCB noted that Chacha Cricket’s final appearance will come during the third ODI against Australia at Gaddafi Stadium, marking the end of an era for one of Pakistan cricket’s most beloved figures.
“Thank you, Chacha Cricket, for a lifetime of passion, memories and loyalty,” the board added.
