Islamabad, June 15, 2026: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Monday welcomed the peace agreement between Iran and the United States, describing it as a significant step towards regional and global peace, stability and cooperation.
The Speaker expressed these views during a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam, who called on him at Parliament House.
Ayaz Sadiq congratulated the leadership and people of Iran on the successful conclusion of the agreement, saying the development would strengthen mutual trust, reduce regional tensions and contribute to international peace and stability.
He emphasized that dialogue, diplomacy and mutual understanding remain the most effective tools for resolving conflicts and promoting lasting peace. Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful dispute resolution, the Speaker said Islamabad would continue to support diplomatic initiatives aimed at fostering regional harmony and cooperation.
The Speaker noted that peace and stability are essential for economic growth and prosperity, adding that constructive engagement among nations is vital for addressing both regional and global challenges.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, matters of mutual interest and the evolving regional situation. Ayaz Sadiq underscored the importance of strengthening parliamentary ties between the two neighbouring countries and expressed Pakistan’s desire to expand cooperation across various sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Dr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam appreciated the efforts of Pakistan’s government, parliament, diplomatic leadership and military leadership in facilitating the peace process between Iran and the United States.
The Iranian envoy congratulated Pakistan’s political, parliamentary, diplomatic, civil and military leadership for their role in supporting the ceasefire and subsequent peace agreement. He described Pakistan’s constructive and sincere contribution to peace efforts as highly commendable.
Dr. Moghaddam said the government and people of Iran would always remember Pakistan’s support and efforts in helping advance peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy.
Later, the Iranian ambassador and his delegation witnessed the proceedings of the National Assembly session.
