Jhelum, June 15, 2026: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Dr. Tariq Saleem has strongly criticized the federal budget, describing it as disappointing, anti-poor and contrary to public expectations, and announced the launch of a nationwide movement against inflation, excessive taxation and what he termed anti-people economic policies.

Addressing participants of the c in Jhelum as chief guest, Dr. Tariq Saleem said Jamaat-e-Islami would intensify its struggle for public rights under the leadership of Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and expand it into a countrywide protest campaign.

The event was attended by Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Jhelum Dr. Qasim Mahmood Chaudhry, President Al-Khidmat Foundation Jhelum Habib Raza Butt, Director Bano Qabil Program Fayyaz Butt Qurtubi, Punjab Bar Council member Sheikh Ikram-ul-Haq Advocate, Mazahir-ul-Islam and other notable figures.

Dr. Tariq Saleem said the participation of millions of people in Jamaat-e-Islami’s nationwide “Badal Do Nizam” membership campaign reflected growing public dissatisfaction with the prevailing political and economic system.

He termed the campaign a public referendum against corruption, injustice and poor governance, adding that increasing public support for Jamaat-e-Islami signaled a desire for meaningful change in the country.

The JI leader said the party’s objective was to establish a just system based on the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah, protect citizens’ fundamental rights and transform Pakistan into an Islamic welfare state marked by prosperity and social justice.

Criticizing the federal budget, he described the Rs17 trillion financial plan as a “deception of figures” that imposes additional burdens on ordinary citizens, salaried individuals and government employees while safeguarding the interests of the privileged class.

According to Dr. Tariq Saleem, the budget does not offer meaningful relief from inflation, unemployment and the economic challenges faced by the public.

He announced that Jamaat-e-Islami was preparing a comprehensive movement against inflation, joblessness, excessive taxation and what he called an exploitative economic system, pledging that the party would continue to raise its voice for economic justice and public welfare at every forum.

Addressing the youth, he urged them to join Jamaat-e-Islami and actively contribute to efforts aimed at building an Islamic, welfare-oriented and prosperous Pakistan.

“The future of the country depends on the constructive role of educated and motivated youth who are committed to positive change and national development,” he said.
