Islamabad, June 15, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday received a telephone call from Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, during which the two leaders discussed regional developments, bilateral relations and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability.

According to the Foreign Office, Ishaq Dar thanked the Italian leadership, including Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, for appreciating Pakistan’s mediation efforts that helped facilitate the understanding reached between the United States and Iran.

The two foreign ministers underscored the importance of implementing the understandings reached and maintaining international engagement to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region, including Lebanon.

They also highlighted the significance of the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a positive development for global energy supplies, international trade and the wider global economy.

Discussing bilateral relations, both sides expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Italy ties and welcomed the recent signing of an agreement abolishing visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports of the two countries.

The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding cooperation across areas of mutual interest and agreed to remain in close contact to advance bilateral and regional objectives.

The conversation reflects growing diplomatic engagement between Islamabad and Rome and their shared commitment to regional stability, economic cooperation and constructive international dialogue.
