Islamabad, June 16, 2026: Speaker National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, on Tuesday underscored the importance of expanding academic collaboration and parliamentary engagement between Pakistan and Bangladesh while welcoming a delegation from Bangladesh’s higher education sector at Parliament House.
Receiving the delegation from the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the Speaker highlighted the significance Pakistan attaches to its fraternal relations with Bangladesh and reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to fostering closer ties through parliamentary exchanges, educational partnerships, and enhanced people-to-people contacts.
During the meeting, Ayaz Sadiq outlined the role of the National Assembly as the supreme representative democratic institution in Pakistan and highlighted ongoing efforts to promote democratic governance, transparency, inclusiveness, and public participation in the legislative process.
Reflecting on the shared constitutional and parliamentary history of Pakistan and Bangladesh, the Speaker noted that the common historical experience serves as an important source of reflection and learning for both countries. He emphasized the need for a forward-looking approach grounded in mutual respect, constructive dialogue, and practical cooperation.
The Speaker reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations through increased institutional exchanges, educational collaboration, and parliamentary cooperation, observing that such interactions contribute significantly to promoting mutual understanding and regional harmony.
Members of the Bangladeshi delegation expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to them and commended Pakistan’s democratic institutions and parliamentary traditions. They stressed the importance of strengthening academic and parliamentary linkages between the two countries and voiced confidence that enhanced cooperation would support shared development objectives and deepen mutual understanding.
The delegation also welcomed the opportunity to engage with Pakistan’s parliamentary leadership and emphasized the value of sustained dialogue, educational collaboration, and people-to-people exchanges in further strengthening bilateral relations.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation and promoting friendly relations for the mutual benefit of the peoples of the two brotherly nations.

During their visit, members of the Bangladeshi delegation also witnessed proceedings of the National Assembly’s Budget Session 2026-27, gaining firsthand insight into Pakistan’s parliamentary process.
