Islamabad, June 19, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Friday, during which the two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation, regional developments, and the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Dar congratulated the leadership, government, and people of Iran on the signing of the historic Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States.
He also conveyed his best wishes for the next phase of negotiations between Tehran and Washington, expressing hope that the process would proceed smoothly and produce positive outcomes.
Foreign Minister Araghchi thanked Pakistan for its constructive and sustained mediation efforts that contributed to facilitating the agreement.
The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on the broader regional situation, including developments in the Middle East. They expressed concern over reported ceasefire violations by Israel in Lebanon and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region.
During the conversation, Araghchi also thanked Pakistan for its assistance in facilitating the repatriation of 30 Iranian nationals. These include eight Iranian fishermen rescued at sea by the United Kingdom and 22 crew members recently interdicted by the United States, whose transit arrangements are currently being coordinated by Pakistani authorities.
The two sides reaffirmed the importance of continued diplomatic engagement and agreed to remain in close contact on matters of mutual interest.
The conversation reflects the close coordination between Pakistan and Iran on regional developments and underscores Islamabad’s ongoing diplomatic engagement in efforts aimed at promoting dialogue and stability in the region.
