Karachi, July 6, 2026: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has taken physical possession of Bahria Icon Towers in Karachi after an accountability court confirmed the provisional attachment of the landmark property in an ongoing anti-money laundering investigation, according to reliable sources.

The development came after Accountability Court No. I, Rawalpindi, upheld NAB’s provisional attachment of the property under Section 8 of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2010, through an order issued on July 3, 2026.

Sources said NAB’s investigation against M/s Galaxy Construction Pvt Ltd and others found that the construction of Bahria Icon Towers, as well as the acquisition of the land on which it stands, was allegedly financed through proceeds of crime and constituted property involved in money laundering.

Based on evidence gathered during the probe, NAB had provisionally attached Bahria Icon Towers under the Anti-Money Laundering Act. After collecting further corroborative material linking the property to alleged money laundering and proceeds of crime, the bureau moved the accountability court for confirmation of the attachment.

Following the court’s order, NAB on Monday took physical possession of Bahria Icon Towers, which officials estimate to be worth around Rs100 billion, and handed over its custody and management to the local administration in accordance with the law.

Bahria Icon Towers is among Pakistan’s most prominent high-rise developments and is widely regarded as the country’s tallest building. Its attachment and takeover mark a major step in NAB’s efforts to identify, restrain and recover assets allegedly linked to money laundering and other financial crimes.

According to sources, the bureau has reiterated its commitment to pursuing money laundering cases, tracing illicit assets, strengthening financial investigations and ensuring that proceeds of crime are restrained, confiscated and recovered under the law.
