Beijing, July 14, 2026: Kazakhstan and China on Tuesday reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening their permanent comprehensive strategic partnership, with a renewed focus on expanding trade, technological cooperation and coordination on regional and global issues.
The understanding was reached during talks between Kazakhstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yermek Kosherbayev, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing during the Kazakh foreign minister’s official visit to China.
Kosherbayev congratulated China on the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China and the launch of the country’s 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development. He also briefed Wang on Kazakhstan’s latest institutional reforms, including the implementation of the country’s new Constitution, which came into force on July 1.
He said the reforms are aimed at strengthening the rule of law, improving public administration and creating a more favorable environment for international cooperation and investment.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral ties and the implementation of agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries.
“Since our last meeting, Kazakhstan-China relations have maintained strong momentum and continued to develop steadily across all areas of bilateral cooperation,” Kosherbayev said.
Wang Yi reaffirmed that China considers Kazakhstan one of its key strategic partners and said the close and trusting dialogue between the two countries’ leaders provides a strong foundation for expanding bilateral cooperation.
The two ministers noted that both countries are making steady progress towards the goal set by their heads of state to double bilateral trade. China remains one of Kazakhstan’s largest trading partners, with bilateral trade reaching a record $48.7 billion in 2025.
Technological cooperation, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence, also featured prominently in the discussions. Ahead of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, Kosherbayev praised China’s efforts in promoting global AI collaboration and welcomed its initiative to establish the World AI Cooperation Organization.
The ministers also exchanged views on key regional and international issues and reaffirmed their commitment to close coordination within the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the China-Central Asia mechanism and other multilateral platforms.
They further reviewed the schedule of upcoming high-level engagements and expressed readiness to continue joint efforts to deepen their strategic partnership.
Following the talks, Kosherbayev signed the Convention on the Establishment of the International Organization for Mediation, formally paving the way for Kazakhstan’s accession to the newly established organization.
