Islamabad, July 14, 2026: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has emphasized the need to equip Pakistan’s youth with technical, vocational and professional skills, saying it is essential for national development, economic stability and enhancing the country’s global competitiveness.

In his message on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, observed annually on July 15 under the auspices of the United Nations, the speaker noted that more than 60 percent of Pakistan’s population comprises young people, making investment in their education and skills a national priority.

He said rapid technological advancements are reshaping the world and countries that invest in knowledge, innovation and modern skills are achieving sustained progress.

Referring to this year’s theme, “Skills for a Shared Future,” Ayaz Sadiq said it highlights the importance of empowering young people with the capabilities needed to build a sustainable and prosperous future. He stressed that the age of artificial intelligence, digital technology, automation and innovation demands that youth develop expertise in these emerging fields to effectively meet future challenges.

The speaker said Pakistani youth possess immense potential to lead the country towards a technology-driven economy and play a vital role in national development.

He appreciated the government’s initiatives aimed at providing young people with technical, vocational and modern skills, saying such programmes are helping prepare the next generation for the demands of the future workforce.

Ayaz Sadiq also called for stronger collaboration among educational institutions, technical training centres, industries and the private sector to ensure that youth receive training aligned with national and international market requirements.

He reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to promoting technical and vocational education, research, innovation and modern skills through effective legislation. He added that the National Assembly’s Young Parliamentarians Forum is actively promoting digital literacy, technological awareness and innovation through training workshops and awareness programmes.

“Skilled, talented and technologically empowered youth can steer Pakistan towards sustainable development and long-term prosperity,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah said that success in today’s world depends not only on academic qualifications but also on practical and technical skills.

In his message marking World Youth Skills Day, he urged young people to focus on acquiring expertise in artificial intelligence, digital technology, cybersecurity, data analytics and other emerging fields to better prepare themselves for future opportunities and contribute to Pakistan’s economic growth.

He reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to continuing legislative efforts aimed at promoting skills development, innovation and modern technology among the country’s youth.
