The Hague, July 17, 2026: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Syed Haider Shah, hosted a group of participants from The Hague Academy of International Law at the Pakistan Embassy, where they were briefed on Pakistan’s foreign policy, international law perspective and engagement with key international institutions.
The visiting group, comprising participants of the Academy’s summer course in Public International Law and representing various nationalities, received an overview of Pakistan’s foreign policy priorities, its perspective on international law, bilateral relations with the Netherlands, and its engagement with Hague-based international organisations.
The briefing also highlighted Pakistan’s cooperation with institutions including the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) and the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH).
Following the presentation, Ambassador Shah held an interactive discussion with the participants, who included lawyers and academics. The visitors appreciated the opportunity to engage with the embassy and said the visit had provided them with a better understanding of Pakistan’s perspectives on a range of international issues.
The embassy said the visit formed part of its public diplomacy initiatives aimed at promoting Pakistan’s viewpoint among young scholars and professionals. It added that such engagements help strengthen links with educational and academic institutions in the Netherlands while fostering greater understanding of Pakistan’s role in international affairs.
