Islamabad, July 23, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Rt. Hon. Ed Miliband, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) 2026 in Manila, where the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding Pakistan-UK partnership.
According to the Foreign Office, Dar congratulated Miliband on his appointment and wished him success in his new role. The British foreign secretary appreciated the valuable contribution of the Pakistani diaspora in the United Kingdom and acknowledged its role in further strengthening bilateral relations.
The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the prevailing security situation in the region. Miliband appreciated Pakistan’s continued efforts to promote dialogue and de-escalation during the recent US-Iran tensions.
Expressing concern over the recent regional escalations, both sides underscored the importance of continued dialogue, diplomacy, and sustained efforts to achieve lasting peace, stability, and regional security.
