Islamabad, July 27, 2026: Coordinator General of OIC-COMSTECH, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, on Monday held talks with Buket Kop, Ambassador of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to Pakistan, to explore avenues for strengthening cooperation in higher education, science, technology, research and academic exchange.

During the meeting at the COMSTECH Secretariat in Islamabad, both sides discussed a range of initiatives aimed at promoting scientific collaboration, capacity building and institutional partnerships between Pakistan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Prof. Dr. Choudhary reaffirmed COMSTECH’s commitment to supporting its Observer States by creating greater opportunities for collaboration in science, technology and innovation.

He proposed several joint initiatives, including exchange programmes for students and young leaders from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to leading Pakistani universities, visits by TRNC faculty members and researchers to Pakistan’s scientific and technological institutions, and expanded academic and institutional exchanges to foster long-term cooperation between universities and research organisations.

Ambassador Buket Kop appreciated COMSTECH’s continued support for its Observer States and commended the organisation’s efforts to advance science, education, innovation and international academic cooperation across the OIC region.

She reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with COMSTECH to transform the proposed initiatives into meaningful partnerships that would benefit both sides.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation through education, research, academic mobility and science diplomacy.
