Islamabad, July 30, 2026: Pakistan and Kazakhstan have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in information technology, artificial intelligence and digital innovation, with both sides reviewing progress on key bilateral initiatives and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, and Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja in Islamabad.
During the meeting, the two sides expressed satisfaction over the steady progress in Kazakhstan-Pakistan cooperation in information technology and telecommunications and reviewed the implementation of agreements reached during the State Visit of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Pakistan in February this year.
Particular focus was placed on implementing the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development and Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication to promote collaboration in digital technologies.
The two sides highlighted the establishment of the first Kazakhstan-Pakistan Artificial Intelligence Centre at GIFT University in Gujranwala on July 6 as a significant milestone in bilateral cooperation and discussed expanding partnerships in emerging technologies.
They also explored prospects for strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan’s Astana Hub and Pakistan’s Ignite National Technology Fund, while encouraging greater engagement between IT companies, startups and technology entrepreneurs from both countries.
Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Kazakhstan and promoting direct institutional linkages among government agencies, development organisations and technology firms.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing their readiness to continue implementing existing agreements and launching mutually beneficial projects in information technology, artificial intelligence and digital innovation, further strengthening the growing strategic partnership between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
