Islamabad, August 14, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Friday received British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott, with the two sides reviewing bilateral relations and recent regional and international developments.
During the meeting, Dar appreciated the positive momentum in Pakistan-UK relations and underscored the importance of maintaining sustained high-level contacts between the two countries.
The Deputy Prime Minister recalled his recent meeting with UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila, describing high-level engagement as important for further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The two sides also discussed key areas of mutual interest and ways to expand cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
Recent regional and international developments also featured prominently in the discussion. Dar stressed that the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) should be implemented by all parties in letter and spirit, reiterating Pakistan’s position that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable way to resolve outstanding issues.
The British High Commissioner conveyed warm greetings to Dar and the people of Pakistan on the occasion of the country’s 79th Independence Day.
