Taunsa Sharif, November 22, 2024-Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly criticized Bushra Bibi’s recent remarks about Saudi Arabia, calling them “the biggest act of betrayal” against Pakistan.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony for the restoration of the Kachi Canal project in Taunsa Sharif, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of Saudi Arabia as a key ally of Pakistan. He described Saudi Arabia as a “nurturing friend, brother, and ally” and praised the country’s unwavering support for Pakistan. “No words are enough to acknowledge Saudi Arabia’s financial, diplomatic, and international assistance, extended without discrimination to the people and governments of Pakistan,” he remarked.

He highlighted that Saudi Arabia has consistently aided Pakistan without imposing any conditions, likening its support to that of a brother. “Their assistance has been unparalleled, selfless, and steadfast,” the Prime Minister added.

Referring to Bushra Bibi’s statement, he asserted that it was a direct affront to a nation that has always stood by Pakistan. “This is the greatest hostility one could show toward Pakistan,” he said, adding that Saudi Arabia has never made demands on Pakistan and has always maintained open doors for friendship and cooperation.

Turning his attention to the Kachi Canal project, Shehbaz Sharif criticized the mismanagement during the tenure of General (r) Pervez Musharraf, when the project was awarded to contractors without proper tendering. He praised Nawaz Sharif’s government for initiating the feasibility study and completing the project in 2018.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the Chief Ministers of Punjab and Balochistan, with special recognition for the Chief Minister of Balochistan’s efforts in ensuring the successful restoration of the canal. “This project is a testament to Nawaz Sharif’s vision and dedication to Pakistan’s development,” he concluded.

The Prime Minister also lamented the wastage of national resources in the past, saying that the people of Dera Ghazi Khan and Taunsa Sharif had witnessed the squandering of funds meant for the nation’s progress.

The Kachi Canal project, now restored, is expected to bring significant benefits to the region, improving irrigation and boosting agricultural productivity.
