Islamabad, August 26, 2026: Secretary Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) Dr Shahida Rehmani has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the tragic fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad, in which 15 newborn babies lost their lives.
In a condolence message, Dr Rehmani described the deaths of the innocent newborns as an extremely painful and heartbreaking tragedy and extended her deepest sympathies to the bereaved families.
She prayed that Almighty Allah grant the grieving parents and families patience, courage and strength to bear the irreparable loss.
Dr Rehmani stressed that the incident should serve as a wake-up call for authorities to ensure strict implementation of fire-safety protocols and effective emergency response systems in hospitals across the country.
She said comprehensive safety measures must be put in place to prevent such tragedies from being repeated.
The WPC secretary prayed that Almighty Allah grant the deceased newborns a place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and bless their families with patience and fortitude. She also prayed for the safety and speedy recovery of all those affected by the incident.
