Lahore, September 6, 2026: Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan Dan Stoenescu has highlighted significant opportunities to expand Pakistan-Romania trade, particularly through agricultural exports, during his participation as Guest of Honour at the opening of a Dates Festival at Lahore Organic Village.
The festival brought together date producers from Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, showcasing Pakistan’s agricultural diversity and the quality and variety of dates produced across the country.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Stoenescu emphasised the need to transform Pakistan’s strong agricultural potential into concrete commercial opportunities between Pakistan and Romania.
He said Pakistan had considerable potential to increase exports of dates and other agricultural products to Romania and gain greater access to the wider European market.
The Romanian envoy also highlighted Romania’s position as an important agricultural hub and a gateway to the European Union, offering opportunities for increased exports from Romania to Pakistan.
He pointed to potential cooperation in agricultural products, modern technology, machinery and innovative solutions that could contribute to the development and modernisation of Pakistan’s agri-food sector.
Stoenescu stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral trade and encouraging greater interaction between the business communities of the two countries.
He said Pakistan and Romania had significant potential to expand economic cooperation in both directions by developing new trade channels, promoting business partnerships and facilitating greater private-sector engagement.
The participation of producers from Pakistan’s major date-growing regions at the festival provided an opportunity to showcase the country’s agricultural strengths while highlighting the potential for expanding value-added agricultural exports to international markets.
The ambassador’s remarks underscored the shared interest in building stronger Pakistan-Romania commercial ties, with greater trade, business partnerships and investment cooperation seen as key areas for future engagement.
