Islamabad, September 10, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday chaired a meeting to review development priorities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and discuss measures to fast-track their implementation.

The meeting examined ongoing development interventions and ways to ensure their timely execution, with Dar stressing the need for early implementation so that the benefits translate into tangible improvements in the lives of the people of AJK.

The Deputy Prime Minister said the development and welfare of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir remained a key priority for Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the Government of Pakistan and the AJK government.

He directed the relevant authorities to maintain focus on implementation and take appropriate measures to accelerate progress on the development priorities discussed during the meeting.

The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Chief Secretary AJK, and senior officials from the AJK and federal governments.

The participants reviewed the implementation process and emphasised coordinated efforts between the federal and AJK governments to ensure that development initiatives produce meaningful and timely results for the people of the region.
