Chengdu, September 11,2026: The Consulate General of Pakistan in Chengdu hosted a grand reception to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, highlighting the enduring friendship and growing cultural bonds between the two countries.

The reception, held at Wanda Reign Chengdu, was presided over by Consul General of Pakistan in Chengdu, Tanvir A. Bhatti.

Mr. He Yanzheng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Congress, and Ms. Zhang Tao, Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Sichuan Province, attended the event as chief guests.

The gathering brought together consular representatives of several countries based in Chengdu, members of various sectors of society in Sichuan, and members of the Pakistani community in southwest China to celebrate the important milestone in Pakistan-China relations.

A video message from Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, was also screened during the ceremony. The Ambassador said that culture serves as living testimony to friendship, while art provides a tangible expression of the heartfelt bonds between peoples.

He recalled the profound friendship forged by Pakistan and China through 75 years of shared experiences and mutual support, and expressed gratitude to the people and institutions of Sichuan for their continued contribution to strengthening Pakistan-China friendship.

Addressing the reception, Mr. He Yanzheng extended congratulations on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He said Sichuan would utilize its comparative strengths to broaden channels of people-to-people and cultural exchanges, promote multifaceted sub-national cooperation with Pakistan, and contribute further to the China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

The reception featured a range of distinctive Pakistani and Chinese cultural displays and performances. An exhibition of Chinese and Pakistani calligraphy works provided an opportunity for artists from both countries to engage in artistic exchanges and showcase their shared cultural affinity.

Artistic presentations by Chinese and Pakistani performers offered guests an immersive experience of the rich cultural traditions and longstanding friendship between the two nations.

A special Qawwali performance by Pakistan’s Marifat Sufi Band emerged as one of the highlights of the evening, receiving warm appreciation from the audience.

The reception also provided an opportunity for Chinese and foreign guests to interact, exchange greetings and discuss prospects for friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and China.

The local audience appreciated the artistic collaboration between Pakistani and Chinese performers and expressed confidence that the longstanding bilateral relationship between the two countries would continue to reach new heights in the years ahead.
