Islamabad, November 27,2024- The list of casualties and injured individuals from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in Islamabad has surfaced.

According to officials at Polyclinic Hospital, two bodies and 26 injured individuals were brought to the facility. The hospital confirmed that all those admitted had sustained gunshot wounds.

Most of the injured reportedly belong to various regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Polyclinic Hospital clarified that rumors circulating on social media regarding the number and nature of injuries are baseless. “We refute the reports of deaths caused by bullets or grenades as claimed on social media. Any unverified news about Polyclinic Hospital should be considered fake,” the officials stated.

Meanwhile, PIMS Hospital received 28 injured civilians and two deceased bodies. Additionally, PIMS Hospital officials reported that 27 injured Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were admitted, along with the bodies of three martyred Rangers personnel.

Government dismisses social media propaganda on protester deaths

Security sources have dismissed social media claims alleging multiple deaths of protesters due to law enforcement’s shelling during the recent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests, labeling them as false propaganda.

According to security officials, certain individuals on social media are spreading baseless claims that law enforcement’s shelling resulted in the deaths of numerous protesters. “Reports of protester deaths are fabricated and false,” they stated, accusing opponents of creating misleading propaganda to cover their failures and shortcomings.

The sources clarified that no fatalities occurred during the police and Rangers operation last night, as no firearms were used during the crackdown. The operation, conducted to disperse protesters, did not involve live ammunition.

Furthermore, security forces conducted multiple operations at various locations, resulting in the arrests of several PTI miscreants. Weapons, slingshots, stones, and other materials were recovered from the detainees, alongside tear gas shells allegedly possessed by the protesters. It was revealed that some of the protesters included government employees and personnel from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As of now, 400 individuals have been arrested from Rawalpindi, 410 from Attock, 44 from Chakwal, 3 from Murree, and 8 from Mianwali. During the violent protests, several police and Rangers personnel were martyred, while numerous others were injured, some critically.

Security officials emphasized that the PTI protest was far from peaceful, describing its objective as inciting chaos in the country. They assured strict legal action against the arrested miscreants.

Earlier, PTI legislator Sher Afzal Marwat claimed that 12 PTI workers were killed due to firing and tear gas shelling, while PTI spokespersons alleged the death of 8 workers. However, these claims remain unverified.

The PTI’s protest march on Tuesday advanced from Islamabad’s Blue Area towards D-Chowk, leading to clashes between security forces and PTI supporters at various points throughout the day. The authorities initiated a nighttime operation to disperse the protesters, successfully clearing the Blue Area of demonstrators.
