Islamabad, October 11,2026: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) have agreed to strengthen institutional cooperation to combat cybercrime, improve digital security awareness and ensure timely resolution of complaints lodged by the business community.
The understanding was reached during a meeting at the Chamber House between NCCIA Additional Director Muhammad Shoaib Khan and ICCI President Mohammad Zikria Akbar Zia, Senior Vice President Mohammad Ashfaq Hussain Chatha and Vice President Mohammad Waqas Khan.
During the meeting, the NCCIA official took note of concerns raised by the business community regarding cybercrime and assured the Chamber of full cooperation in addressing the issues.
The two sides agreed to establish a joint core committee comprising representatives of both institutions to improve coordination, strengthen liaison and develop a coordinated response to cybercrime-related challenges faced by traders and businesses.
They also decided to organize awareness sessions to educate businesspeople about emerging cyber threats, digital security and preventive measures.
Speaking on the occasion, ICCI President Mohammad Zikria Akbar Zia stressed the need for stronger collaboration between the Chamber and the NCCIA to protect businesses from growing cyber threats.
He said that as businesses increasingly relied on digital platforms for communication, financial transactions and commercial activities, tackling cybercrime had become essential to building confidence in the digital economy.
The ICCI president announced that the Chamber would establish a dedicated Cyber Crimes Committee, similar to its other specialized committees, to identify business-related concerns, maintain effective coordination with the NCCIA and pursue practical solutions for affected members.
ICCI Senior Vice President Mohammad Ashfaq Hussain Chatha and Vice President Mohammad Waqas Khan also highlighted the cybercrime-related challenges confronting businesses and reaffirmed the Chamber’s cooperation with the agency.
They emphasized that regular engagement between the two institutions, combined with greater awareness among traders and entrepreneurs, would help prevent cyber incidents and improve the business community’s capacity to respond to emerging digital risks.
ICCI Executive Member Abrar ul Haq briefed the NCCIA additional director on specific concerns faced by the Islamabad Computer Association, Islamabad Mobile Association and Islamabad Realtors Association.
He underscored the importance of addressing sector-specific challenges through an effective coordination mechanism to enable businesses to operate with greater confidence and security in an increasingly digital environment.
ICCI Executive Members Israr Mishwani, Syed Imran Bukhari, Chaudhry Mazher, Malik Rashid Tufail, Shoaib Arshad Malik, Shahid Abbasi and Mohammad Nauman, along with other Chamber members, also attended the meeting.
The participants expressed confidence that the proposed joint core committee, the dedicated Cyber Crimes Committee and planned awareness initiatives would strengthen institutional cooperation and provide practical support to Islamabad’s business community in addressing cybercrime-related concerns.
