Islamabad, December 31, 2024: Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies carried out over 59,000 successful operations against terrorism throughout 2024, achieving significant results. Guided by a clear national policy, these efforts led to the neutralization of 925 terrorists, including key operatives, and the arrest of hundreds more.

A total of 59,775 intelligence-based operations were conducted, targeting terrorists and their facilitators. On average, 169 operations were carried out daily by military, intelligence agencies, police, and other law enforcement units. Among the neutralized threats were 73 high-value terrorists, including notable figures such as Fidaur Rahman alias Lal from Zhob Division, Ali Rahman alias Taha Swati, and Abu Yahya.

Additionally, 14 wanted terrorists surrendered, choosing to lay down their arms and reintegrate into society. Security forces also thwarted major attacks by capturing two suicide bombers in time, preventing potential disasters.

Army Chief General Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering stance against terrorism, particularly the threat posed by activities emanating from Afghan soil. “The safety and lives of every Pakistani come before all else, even beyond our relations with Afghanistan,” he stated.

These efforts garnered international recognition, with a foreign publication praising the Army Chief for his strong stand against terrorism and extremism.

Beyond counterterrorism, the government made notable strides in combating illegal activities, such as smuggling, electricity theft, extortion, and hoarding. This state-led crackdown significantly reduced these crimes, reinforcing the government’s firm policies.

In the diplomatic arena, General Munir’s military diplomacy helped strengthen Pakistan’s relations with key countries and attract foreign investment. Pakistan also emerged as a powerful advocate for oppressed communities in Gaza, Lebanon, and Kashmir. Notable diplomatic milestones included hosting the prestigious SCO Conference, which saw the participation of leaders and senior officials from China, Russia, Iran, and other member states.

On the economic front, the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) made key strides in boosting trade relations, increasing remittances, and curbing inflation. The stock market reached historic highs, interest rates dropped, and concerns about economic default were dispelled.

Trade expansion initiatives by the National Logistics Cell (NLC) facilitated new commercial opportunities with Central Asia, Russia, Eastern Europe, China, and the UAE, marking significant progress in regional connectivity.

Legislative measures were also introduced to curb fake news and misinformation, addressing the negative impact of unregulated freedom of expression on societal values.

The combined efforts of Pakistan’s government and military leadership in 2024 have laid the foundation for a brighter and more secure future for the nation.
