PM praises young Pakistani players for winning global championships

Islamabad, January 25, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif praised young Pakistani athletes for bringing honor to the country with their remarkable talents. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing the necessary facilities to support Pakistan’s athletes.

The Prime Minister met with Snooker Champion Muhammad Asif, congratulating him on his recent victory at the SAARC Snooker Championship held in Sri Lanka. During the meeting, PM Sharif presented Muhammad Asif with a prize cheque worth Rs. 2.5 million.

“You have brought immense pride to Pakistan in the game of snooker, and the entire nation is proud of you,” the Prime Minister said, as quoted by the PM Office Media Wing. He further emphasized that Asif’s success, with multiple victories at the World Amateur Snooker Championship and the SAARC Snooker Championship, had earned him global recognition and brought great honor to Pakistan.

Muhammad Asif expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for recognizing his achievements at the national level. He credited the government’s support for sports as a key factor in the promotion of games, adding that the recognition was a great honor.

The Prime Minister instructed the relevant authorities to collaborate with Muhammad Asif to improve snooker training facilities and further promote the sport among the youth.
