Islamabad, February 5, 2025: Pakistan, along with the global community, is observing Kashmir Solidarity Day with fervor, reaffirming its unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. Across the country and internationally, seminars, rallies, and special programs are being held to pay tribute to the Kashmiri freedom struggle and highlight the ongoing human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Special events across Pakistan feature speakers recounting the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people and condemning the atrocities committed by the Indian armed forces in the occupied valley. A special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is also scheduled, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will address the attendees, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to the Kashmiri cause.

Kashmir Solidarity Day, observed annually on February 5, serves as a solemn reminder of the ongoing plight of the Kashmiri people under Indian occupation. The region continues to suffer from violence and oppression, with mass graves, widespread sexual violence against women, and thousands of orphaned children standing as tragic evidence of India’s brutal policies in Kashmir.

Acting President and Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Speaker of the National Assembly, and other political leaders have reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination in their messages on this occasion.

A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office emphasized that Pakistan observes Kashmir Solidarity Day each year to renew its pledge to support the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, a fundamental principle of international law. This right has been consistently reinforced by United Nations General Assembly resolutions affirming the legal right of people to determine their own destiny. However, for the past 78 years, the Kashmiri people have been denied this inalienable right, as they continue their resistance against occupation and oppression.
