Lahore, February 12, 2025: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has accused a past political rival of destabilizing the country, asserting that his party is now steering Pakistan toward economic recovery.

Speaking to PML-N’s Punjab Assembly members in Lahore, Sharif indirectly criticized PTI founder Imran Khan, blaming him for economic mismanagement and governance failures. “A dishonest leader who rose to power through deceit shook Pakistan’s very foundations,” he said. “But we have made sacrifices before, and we will continue to do so for the country’s progress.”

Sharif highlighted recent economic improvements, attributing them to PML-N’s policies.

He credited his brother, Shehbaz Sharif, for leading economic stabilization efforts, noting that even the IMF has recognized Pakistan’s financial recovery.

The meeting, attended by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and senior PML-N officials, reviewed ongoing projects and political strategy. Lawmakers praised Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, calling him a “symbol of Pakistan’s progress.”

Party members also lauded Maryam Nawaz’s governance, particularly for reviving inactive government departments and accelerating public welfare initiatives. “For the first time, even neglected departments are now actively working,” a party official noted.

The gathering reaffirmed PML-N’s commitment to public welfare, with members citing the “Suthra Punjab” (Clean Punjab) initiative as a model for improved municipal services across the province.
