New York, February 18, 2025: Pakistan has called for urgent international action to resolve the conflicts in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine, emphasizing the need for self-determination as promised by the United Nations.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, speaking at a special meeting of OIC Ambassadors at the UN, stated that adherence to the principles of self-determination and the prohibition of territorial acquisition by force is essential for global stability.

“Respect for these principles is crucial to achieving just solutions for both Palestine and the Jammu and Kashmir dispute,” Dar asserted. He arrived in New York on Sunday to participate in the UN Security Council’s high-level meeting on global governance and multilateralism.

Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to supporting the OIC’s collective goals at the UN. He stressed Pakistan’s dedication to advocating for a just and lasting peace in Palestine, urging for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, unhindered humanitarian aid, and strong opposition to any attempts to displace the Palestinian people.

He reiterated Pakistan’s full support for the two-state solution, envisioning a sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

On Kashmir, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri people, calling for a peaceful resolution of the IIOJK dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Additionally, Dar expressed concern over Israeli threats of further attacks on Iran, warning that such actions could severely undermine regional and international peace.

“Despite the hostile rhetoric, it is our hope that all parties will seek to revive the JCPOA (Iran nuclear deal) on equitable terms, contributing to durable peace and security across the Middle East,” he said.

He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for peaceful resolutions of conflicts affecting Muslim nations in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, in line with UN Charter principles.

Dar further highlighted the urgent need to combat Islamophobia, urging the appointment of a UN Special Envoy in alignment with the OIC’s collective efforts to counter this growing global challenge.

Concluding his remarks, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with OIC member states during its Security Council term, advocating on all issues of mutual interest.
