Quetta, January 31, 2026: At least 67 terrorists have been killed in ongoing security operations across Balochistan after coordinated attacks at multiple locations were successfully foiled, state media reported on Saturday.

According to security sources, militants belonging to what the state has designated as Fitna-al-Hindustan attempted to carry out attacks at 12 locations across the province early Saturday. All attempts were thwarted due to timely and effective action by security forces.

State-run PTV News reported that the confirmed number of terrorists killed in operations launched since the morning has reached 67, while a total of 108 militants have been eliminated across Balochistan over the past two days, including 41 terrorists killed in Panjgur and Harnai’s Shaban area.

Security sources said 10 police and security personnel embraced martyrdom while confronting the attackers.

The state uses the term Fitna-al-Hindustan for Balochistan-based militant groups to highlight what it alleges is India’s role in terrorism and destabilisation inside Pakistan.

Meanwhile, terrorists described as an “Indian proxy” killed 11 civilians in Gwadar, including five men, three women, and three children, according to PTV News citing security sources. All militants involved in the incident were later killed, while further clearance operations in surrounding areas remain underway.

While mobile phone services continued to function, mobile data services were suspended in Quetta, Sibi, and Chaman following the attacks as a security precaution.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, in a post on X, said security forces had killed nearly 70 terrorists across the province in just two days.

“In an attempt to shore up their declining morale, Fitna-al-Hindustan terrorists launched attacks at multiple locations this morning, which were jointly thwarted by the courageous Balochistan Police and Frontier Corps,” he said, adding that 37 more terrorists were killed during the day.

“These attacks cannot undermine our resolve. We will continue our operations until the last terrorist is eliminated,” the chief minister said.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar termed the attacks a “desperate move” by militants facing imminent defeat. Speaking to media, he said security forces were fully alert and not taken by surprise.

“Our personnel and officers fought bravely and were prepared at all locations,” Tarar said, confirming that 10 security personnel were martyred.

He expressed deep sorrow over the killing of family members of Baloch labourers from Khuzdar and Gwadar by terrorists affiliated with the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), adding that the militants had suffered heavy losses.

CM Bugti visited the site of a bomb blast in Quetta and was briefed by Balochistan Inspector General Muhammad Tahir. He praised the police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) for their swift response, saying there would be “no compromise on peace in Balochistan.”

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also arrived in Quetta for high-level meetings on the law and order situation. He and the chief minister offered funeral prayers for the martyrs at Police Lines and met their families.

“The sacrifices of our martyrs will not be forgotten. The nation salutes them,” Naqvi said, adding that the war against terrorism would continue until its complete elimination.

An emergency was imposed in all government hospitals across Balochistan, with operating theatres placed on alert and additional doctors deployed to treat the injured.

Separately, police said explosive material, including an anti-tank mine, was recovered from a railway track in Nasirabad district. The suspected IED was neutralised in a joint operation by police, the FC, and intelligence agencies, and handed over to the CTD for investigation.

Railway tracks have remained a frequent target, with the Jaffar Express coming under repeated attacks over the past year.

President Asif Ali Zardari praised the armed forces and law enforcement agencies for foiling infiltration attempts and paid tribute to martyred personnel and civilians. He reaffirmed that there would be no compromise on Balochistan’s peace and national unity.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also lauded security forces for thwarting coordinated attacks in Quetta, Noshki, Dalbandin, Pasni, and Gwadar, calling the operations a major blow to militant networks. He paid homage to the martyrs and reiterated that the fight against terrorism would continue until its complete eradication.

The proscribed BLA has intensified attacks in Balochistan in recent years. In August 2025, the United States designated the BLA and its Majeed Brigade as foreign terrorist organisations.

Despite record militant deaths, Pakistan witnessed a sharp rise in militant violence in 2025, with attacks increasing by 34 percent and terrorism-related fatalities rising by 21 percent, according to the Pak Institute for Peace Studies.
