Quetta, March 12, 2025: The Balochistan Assembly strongly condemned the use of Baloch women in suicide bombings, passing a resolution against terrorism and extremist recruitment. The resolution was presented by Meena Majeed, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Sports, during a session chaired by Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai and attended by key government officials, including Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.
The session also included prayers for the victims of the recent Jaffar Express terrorist attack, in which militants hijacked a passenger train in Bolan district, taking hostages and engaging in a deadly standoff with security forces.
Presenting the resolution, Meena Majeed warned that the increasing recruitment of Baloch women for suicide attacks posed a grave threat to society. She accused terrorist organisations of exploiting vulnerable women to further their violent agendas, leading to internal genocide within the Baloch community.
She urged authorities to take immediate action against terrorist networks radicalising women, calling for enhanced security measures and counter-extremism strategies to prevent further recruitment.
During the session, newly elected Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Ali Madad Jatak took the oath of office. The assembly also held prayers for those who lost their lives in recent terrorist attacks.
Provincial Minister Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran reiterated security concerns raised in previous meetings, revealing that he had received death threats and verbal abuse for publicly condemning terrorist activities.
CM Sarfraz Bugti: ‘terrorists will be eliminated’
Addressing the assembly, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti called for a clear and unwavering stance against terrorism, questioning:
“What rights have not been given to Balochistan?”
Highlighting the targeted killing of innocent Balochs, he said:
“I have lost 380 of my people in this war. Innocent civilians were attacked on the Jaffar Express. Killing unarmed civilians is against Baloch traditions. Hospitality and brotherhood define our culture.”
CM Bugti vowed that terrorists would face severe consequences, warning that those taking up arms against the state would be eliminated.
“We will not tolerate violence in the name of any ideology. Those who threaten the peace of our land will be crushed with full force.”
He also criticised the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), accusing it of using violence and fear to impose its ideology.
“Should we allow the BLA to impose its ideology through force?”
Emphasising the need to address the root causes of radicalisation, CM Bugti stressed the importance of engaging Baloch youth through education, employment opportunities, and economic development.
“Instead of being drawn into violence, our youth must be given opportunities for education and progress. The government is investing in their future, spending Rs1.3 million per student in Cadet Colleges to secure a brighter tomorrow.”
The resolution reflects growing concerns over terrorist tactics in the region, with lawmakers urging a firm response to extremist groups exploiting local communities for their violent objectives.
