Islamabad, April 14, 2025: Pakistan, in collaboration with the Republic of Korea, will host a two-day United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial Preparatory Meeting in Islamabad starting Tuesday. The event will serve as a precursor to the main UN Peacekeeping Ministerial Conference, scheduled to take place in Berlin next month.

The Islamabad meeting will bring together key stakeholders for a series of panel discussions on the evolving landscape of UN peacekeeping. Topics on the agenda include the future challenges facing peacekeeping operations, the integration of emerging technologies to enhance safety and efficiency, the role of regional and cross-regional organizations in supporting UN missions, performance evaluation of peacekeepers, and the adoption of a holistic approach to achieving sustainable and durable peace.

This high-level gathering will also offer Pakistan an opportunity to showcase its longstanding and significant contributions to UN peacekeeping efforts. As one of the top troop-contributing countries, Pakistan has deployed over 235,000 personnel across 48 UN missions to date. Tragically, 181 Pakistani peacekeepers have laid down their lives in the line of duty in pursuit of global peace and security.

The event underlines Pakistan’s enduring commitment to multilateral cooperation and its prominent role in supporting the UN’s mission to maintain international peace and stability.
