Islamabad, April 18, 2025: Dr. Jemal Beker, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Ethiopia, met with Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Commerce of Pakistan, on Friday at the Ministry of Commerce to review preparations for the upcoming Pakistan Single Country Exhibition in Addis Ababa.

The exhibition is scheduled to take place from May 15 to 17, 2025, and will coincide with a High-Level Business Forum titled “Invest in Ethiopia”, to be held from May 12 to 13 in the Ethiopian capital.

Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Industry, also participated in the meeting, along with senior officials from the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad and Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the joint mobilization campaign being carried out by the Ethiopian Embassy in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to encourage active participation from the Pakistani business community.

Ambassador Beker briefed the minister on his outreach efforts with major business chambers across Pakistan, aimed at raising awareness about the immense trade opportunities available through participation in the exhibition. He emphasized that Ethiopia, along with its business community, is fully prepared to host the Pakistani delegation.

Highlighting the significance of bilateral engagement, the ambassador noted that Ethiopian Airlines’ operations in Pakistan have become a key enabler of Pakistan’s “Look Africa and Engage Africa” policy, facilitating exchanges in trade, science and technology, health, and education.

Minister Jam Kamal Khan appreciated Ambassador Beker’s efforts in mobilizing the Pakistani business sector and underscored the strategic importance of the exhibition.

“The Single Country Exhibition is a flagship initiative under our ‘Look Africa and Engage Africa’ policy. It offers a unique opportunity for Pakistani businesses to tap into the vast potential of the Ethiopian and wider African markets,” the minister said.

He noted that the event would significantly strengthen Pakistan’s trade and investment ties with Ethiopia and the African continent, opening new avenues for collaboration across various sectors. The minister also emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure the success and impact of the exhibition.
