Islamabad, May 2, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday called on Saudi Arabia and other brotherly nations to play a constructive role in urging India to de-escalate tensions in South Asia, reiterating Pakistan’s firm commitment to regional peace and stability.

The Prime Minister made these remarks during a meeting with the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki, at the Prime Minister’s House.

Discussing the recent developments in South Asia following the Pahalgam incident, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unambiguous condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. He highlighted that Pakistan has made immense sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism, not only for its own security but also for the safety and stability of the wider world.

He categorically rejected India’s baseless allegations linking Pakistan to the Pahalgam incident, stating that such claims were made without evidence. He reiterated Pakistan’s demand for a transparent and impartial international investigation into the matter.

The Prime Minister stressed that Pakistan’s government remains focused on consolidating the economic stability achieved over the past 15 months, with vital support from friendly nations such as Saudi Arabia. “It is inconceivable for Pakistan to act in a way that would jeopardize its hard-earned economic progress or undermine its path to development,” he said.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif also extended warm greetings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. He expressed deep gratitude to the Saudi leadership and people for their continued support and solidarity with Pakistan through all challenges.

Ambassador Al-Malki appreciated the Prime Minister’s candid exchange on the regional situation and affirmed Saudi Arabia’s desire to work closely with Pakistan to promote peace and security in the region.
