Karachi, May 12, 2025: Gold prices saw a sharp decline in Pakistan on Monday, mirroring global market fluctuations and investor caution.

According to data released by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price of 24-karat gold fell by Rs10,400 per tola, bringing the new rate to Rs340,500. The price of 10 grams of gold also declined by Rs8,917, settling at Rs291,923.

This significant drop follows a Rs1,800 per tola decrease on Friday, when gold closed at Rs350,900, highlighting a downward trend driven by volatility in both local and international markets.

Globally, gold prices dropped by $104 per ounce, with the international rate standing at $3,221 per ounce, including a $20 premium, according to APGJSA.

Silver also recorded a modest decline, losing Rs17 per tola to close at Rs3,400.

Jewellers attributed the fluctuations to a combination of shifting global demand, currency instability, and growing investor uncertainty, which have made precious metals markets increasingly volatile.
