Islamabad, July 11, 2025: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has hinted at the possibility of a no-confidence motion against the provincial government, stating that such a move could materialize once the opposition secures the required numbers in the KP Assembly.

Speaking to the media alongside senior PPP leader Khursheed Shah, Kundi pointed out that around 30 MPAs in the provincial assembly were currently independent, creating a significant space for political maneuvering.

“When the numbers are complete, no one can stop us from exercising our democratic right,” the governor remarked, emphasizing that meeting political leaders and forming alliances was part and parcel of the democratic process.

Kundi affirmed that if the opposition achieves a majority, it has every constitutional and political right to bring forward a no-confidence motion.

Highlighting his political rapport with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Kundi noted that political partnerships are natural in parliamentary systems. He added that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is aiming to secure five seats in the upcoming Senate elections from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The KP Governor also voiced serious concern over the rising wave of terrorism in the province. He blamed Afghan soil for being used repeatedly in cross-border attacks and urged for regional cooperation to counter the threat.

“We’ve repeatedly urged the Afghan government to prevent the use of its territory for terrorism. It’s time we stand united against this menace,” he stressed.

Commenting on the internal divisions within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Kundi said the party was fragmented and its leadership in KP was struggling to maintain coherence.

He also accused the current provincial administration of ongoing corruption, stating that “loot and plunder is still the order of the day in KP.”

Kundi called on the opposition to play a strong, responsible, and strategic role in steering the province towards stability and governance reforms.
