Beijing, August 24, 2025: China has reaffirmed its strategic partnership with Pakistan, hailing the Pakistan Army as a “pillar of national stability” and a “guardian of Pakistan–China friendship.”

The statement came following a meeting on August 21 between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in Beijing.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang praised the role of Pakistan’s armed forces in both regional peace and bilateral cooperation.
“The Pakistani Army is a pillar of national stability and a strong guardian of Pakistan–China friendship and cooperation,” the ministry quoted Wang as saying.

He noted that the military has consistently supported the implementation of major agreements between the leadership of both nations. Amid shifting global dynamics, Wang emphasized that strengthening Pakistan–China ties is “highly beneficial for regional peace and stability.”

Underscoring the resilience of the relationship, Wang said:
“China has always given top priority to Pakistan in its neighbourhood diplomacy. Despite challenges, Pakistan–China relations have only grown stronger.”

He further assured that Beijing will continue to support Pakistan in safeguarding sovereignty, security, and development interests, while welcoming Islamabad’s growing role on the international stage.

Field Marshal Munir, in turn, described China as Pakistan’s “iron brother” and called the bilateral partnership “as solid as a rock.” He expressed gratitude for Beijing’s contribution to Pakistan’s economic and social development, stressing that fostering close ties with China represents a unanimous national consensus in Pakistan.

The army chief reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing counter-terrorism and security cooperation, pledging full protection for Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions operating in Pakistan.
“Pakistan will continue efforts to ensure the safety of our Chinese friends and to advance our shared development goals,” Munir was quoted as saying.

The meeting once again highlighted the centrality of military-to-military cooperation in the all-weather strategic partnership, as both nations prepare to mark new milestones under the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.
