Rawalpindi, November 25,2025: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza on Tuesday paid a farewell call on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ), the military’s media wing said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir commended Gen Mirza — who retires on November 27 upon completion of his tenure — for his exemplary leadership, strategic foresight, and dedicated service to the Pakistan Armed Forces.

The COAS also praised the outgoing CJCSC’s pivotal contributions in enhancing tri-services synergy, strengthening joint operational preparedness, and advancing Pakistan’s long-term national security goals at the strategic level.

“General Mirza played a vital role in promoting regional stability, bolstering military diplomacy, and deepening Pakistan’s defence partnerships with friendly countries,” the ISPR quoted the COAS as saying.

Gen Mirza expressed gratitude to the COAS and the Armed Forces for the support extended to him throughout his career.

Upon his arrival at GHQ, Gen Mirza laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and was presented a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army.

Gen Mirza will be the last CJCSC, as the post is set to be abolished following his retirement under the provisions of the 27th Constitutional Amendment. Afterward, Field Marshal Munir will assume the newly created role of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF).
