Murree, December 21, 2025: District Police Officer (DPO) Murree Dr Muhammad Raza Tanveer Sapra on Sunday said that while enjoying Murree’s scenic beauty and snowfall is the right of every tourist, ensuring their safety and a smooth journey remains the top priority of the Murree Police.

Following the season’s first snowfall, police across the district have been placed on high alert to prevent untoward incidents and traffic-related problems. The DPO said he is personally supervising the arrangements and has directed all police personnel to assist visitors with courtesy and hospitality. He noted that an unusually large number of tourists visited Murree over the weekend and many were still present in the city, prompting further strengthening of the traffic management plan.

Highlighting the risks posed by slippery roads during snowfall, Dr Sapra urged motorists to mandatorily use snow chains on vehicle tyres, avoid unnecessary overtaking and strictly follow traffic instructions. He warned that roadside parking for photography causes serious traffic congestion and advised tourists to use only designated parking areas.

The DPO also advised travellers to ensure their vehicles are in proper mechanical condition before entering the hilly areas, particularly checking heaters, windscreen wipers and lights, and to keep sufficient fuel in their tanks. Emphasising health and safety, he urged special care for children and the elderly and recommended keeping vehicle windows slightly open during travel to prevent oxygen depletion.

Concluding his message, Dr Sapra appealed to citizens to immediately report any emergency, accident or suspicious activity by calling the Police Helpline 15 or contacting personnel at the nearest police check post. He assured that Murree Police remain fully alert and committed to providing guidance and ensuring the safety of all visitors throughout their stay.
