Rawalpindi/Islamabad, January 8, 2026: Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, on Thursday reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence relations with Bangladesh, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The army chief conveyed this during a meeting with Bangladesh’s Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, who called on him at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. According to ISPR, the discussions focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, and avenues for enhancing bilateral defence and military cooperation.

Both sides emphasized the importance of professional collaboration, training exchanges, and deeper defence ties between the armed forces of Pakistan and Bangladesh. The visiting air chief lauded the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and acknowledged their contributions toward regional peace and stability. ISPR described the meeting as reflecting the longstanding and strong bonds between the two brotherly countries.

Separately, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan met with Pakistan Navy Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf in Islamabad. The discussions centered on mutual professional interests, the evolving regional security environment, and opportunities to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation.

Admiral Naveed Ashraf highlighted Pakistan Navy’s commitment to regional maritime peace and stability, while the Bangladeshi air chief acknowledged the navy’s high professional standards. Both sides agreed on the importance of increasing the frequency of high-level exchanges and joint training exercises to foster greater synergy between the two countries’ armed forces.
