Islamabad, February 6, 2026: Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent letters of condolence to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif following the deadly terrorist attack in Islamabad that claimed dozens of lives.
In his message, President Putin expressed “deepest condolences on the tragic consequences of the terrorist attack,” describing the killing of people during a religious ceremony as “yet another testament to the barbaric and inhumane nature of terrorism.”
He reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to further strengthen cooperation with Pakistan in combating terrorism and enhancing security.
“Please convey our sincere sympathy and support to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, as well as our wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured,” the Russian president said.
The message comes amid a wave of international condemnation after the attack on Imambargah Khadijah al-Kubra in Islamabad’s Tarlai area, with global leaders expressing solidarity with Pakistan and denouncing terrorism in all its forms.
