Ambreen Jan becomes first woman chairperson of PEMRA

Islamabad, February 13, 2026: Ms. Ambreen Jan has assumed charge as Chairperson of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), becoming the first woman to lead the country’s electronic media regulatory body.

According to an official statement, she formally took charge of her responsibilities and expressed her commitment to strengthening the role of the Authority for the development of Pakistan’s media industry. She emphasized the importance of promoting responsible broadcasting, transparency, and growth within the electronic media sector.

Ms. Ambreen Jan brings extensive administrative and media experience to the position. She has previously served as Federal Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Managing Director of Pakistan Television Corporation, Director General of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, and Press Counselor in Bangladesh. Her diverse leadership roles reflect a strong background in media governance and public communication.

Kaiser Rafiq, CEO of Discover Pakistan, extended heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Ambreen Jan on her historic appointment as Pakistan’s first female Chairperson of PEMRA. He expressed confidence that her leadership and experience will further strengthen the Authority and contribute to the development and progress of Pakistan’s media industry.
