Islamabad, February 17, 2026: Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab, Dr. Tariq Saleem, extended heartfelt congratulations to Muslims worldwide on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, emphasizing that Ramadan and the Holy Quran are inseparable and central to a believer’s spiritual life.
Addressing the District Donor Conference of Jamaat-e-Islami in Murree, Dr. Tariq Saleem highlighted that Ramadan’s true purpose extends beyond abstaining from food and drink. He urged Muslims to avoid falsehood, backbiting, dishonesty, and all forms of moral wrongdoing, emphasizing that the month calls for the practical implementation of the teachings and system of Prophet Muhammad in daily life, especially in a country founded in the name of Islam.
Dr. Saleem said that Ramadan teaches patience, tolerance, and love for humanity, and encouraged believers to integrate these qualities into their daily conduct. He stressed that the Quran should not be limited to recitation alone; its understanding and practical application must guide personal and societal behavior. “Ramadan is about seeking the pleasure of Allah Almighty, shaping our lives through piety, worship, and service to humanity,” he stated.
Other speakers at the conference included Ameer Ghulam Ahmed Abbasi, President of Jamiat-e-Ittehad-ul-Ulama Punjab Maulana Amir Usman, and Ahsan Siraj Abbasi, who also highlighted the spiritual importance of Ramadan and the need for collective reform.
Dr. Saleem further emphasized that fasting cultivates self-restraint and moral strength, fostering patience, tolerance, and the development of a society grounded in Islamic values. He described Ramadan as an opportunity for self-accountability and self-improvement, noting that its proper understanding and practice can lead to the betterment of both individuals and society.
He concluded that Ramadan serves as comprehensive spiritual training, purifying character, strengthening faith, and promoting compassion, humility, and social responsibility.
