Islamabad, February 19, 2026: Khazar Farhadov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, called on Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr. Musadik Malik at his office in Islamabad.

During the meeting, Ambassador Farhadov commended Dr. Malik’s strong stance at the ECO meeting on climate change, particularly his emphasis on collective global responsibility and his remarks on inconsistencies in international climate commitments. He highlighted Pakistan’s constructive role in advocating for equitable climate action for developing countries.

Both sides reaffirmed the deep-rooted brotherly relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, noting the strong cultural and historical ties linking the two nations.

The Ambassador extended an invitation to Dr. Malik to participate in the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum, scheduled to be held in Baku from 17th to 22nd May 2026. The forum is expected to serve as a major platform to discuss the climate–urban nexus, resilience-building, and collective pathways toward environmentally sustainable urban development.

Dr. Musadik Malik welcomed the invitation and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between Pakistan and Azerbaijan in the areas of climate action and sustainable urban planning.
