Rawalpindi, February 27, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday visited General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where military leadership provided a detailed briefing on the ongoing situation between Pakistan and Afghan Taliban.

The visit follows the launch of Operation Ghazab lil-Haq by Pakistani security forces, responding to unprovoked cross-border attacks by the Afghan Taliban on Thursday.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Sharif emphasized that zero tolerance must be maintained against the nexus between the Afghan Taliban and Fitna al-Khawarij — a term used by Pakistan to describe terrorists from the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

“The actions of the Afghan Taliban regime and Fitna al-Khawarij against Pakistan are unacceptable,” he said, adding that the armed forces, under Asim Munir, are always prepared to defend the country.

“Pakistan knows how to defend itself against any aggression,” the premier asserted, praising the professional capabilities of the armed forces in repelling the recent border attacks and carrying out a vigorous retaliatory response.

PM Sharif concluded by reaffirming national solidarity with the military: “The entire nation stands with the armed forces for protecting the homeland.”
