Islamabad, March 17,2026: The Prime Minister’s Office on Tuesday announced that the annual Pakistan Day Parade and related ceremonial events will not be held on March 23 this year due to ongoing austerity measures.
According to a statement issued by the PM Office Media Wing, the decision has been taken in the backdrop of the prevailing Gulf oil crisis and the government’s efforts to reduce expenditures.
Despite the cancellation of large-scale celebrations, the day will be observed with dignity through simple flag-hoisting ceremonies at appropriate levels across the country.
The statement emphasized that the move aims to align national observances with the broader austerity framework while maintaining the spirit and significance of Pakistan Day.
All ministries, divisions and government departments have been directed to mark the occasion in a solemn and respectful manner, ensuring that the essence of the historic day is preserved despite scaled-down celebrations.
